Weekend

Ok, for the first time feeling ko ang onti lang ng gagawin ko for design and all of my other classes so nagrelax relax lang muna ako. Since pumunta ng D.C. si Jin and Kevin, wala akong kasama sa room so i enjoyed my alone time and went shopping sa soho. Damn, ANG DAMING STORES! Sobrang fun! From steve madden to urban outfitters nandun lahat. Anyway, i bought new heels sa steve madden tapos nailagay siya sa ibang box kaya minus twenty dollars, nalaman ko nalang pagkauwi ko. hehe. Bought a dress and a top tapos makeup. Nawala pa ako pauwi hindi ko mahanap yung subway.

Badtrip pa kahapon it took me 4 hours just to lasercut my sheets of bristol. Graduate students have priority over the machine kasi so they kept on booting us off.

Oh well. Anyway, this current week and the one after is hell week for me dahil midterms na namin. I think i did well on our history exam, nasagot ko naman lahat dun sa 20 slides na binigay samin. We needed to memorize the name of the building, its architect, location, date it was built, style or period it was built and then historical importance. Out of the 20 na minemorize namin 8 lang ang binigay. Although for the 2 major essay questions hindi ko alam kung ano lagay ko dun.

Tomorrow i will be having design. So tonight i need to finish two models. So happy dahil Jeremy liked my previous models so wala na masyadong revisions. YATAAAA!!! Anyhooo i also finished all the renderings needed for HVAC. Exam nalang sa subject na yun ang kulang. Then on friday i need to have two renderings in vray of a prefab house. I was really a mess last October as in all over the place. Too much work, and hindi ko pa makuha yung abstraction sa design. So i really had to sit down and think. Now he loves it. AJA! GO GO GO!!! I need to laser cut more strips of paper. Yeyeah.

Death of laptops

Diyos mio, buti naman at ang computer ko e kahit na meron parin akong mga problema about other softwares eh hindi pa siya nagccrash. Kanina me and Jin were doing our renderings in rhino since partner ko siya. Biglang namatay then pagka on, kalahati nalang yung nakikita namin sa screen. It does this matrix thingy with nos. and letters tapos namamatay. Oh man. We lost our assignment for that day so ulitan nalang. Good thing naback up yung pratt stuff. Pics and music are gone though. Sa dami ng software na iniinstall feeling ko the end is near for my laptop. Wag naman sana.

On monday we are going to have one of the 3 major pinups per sem. Hindi pa naman ako ngarag, dami lang research and renderings. Plus my partner is not here to help me dahil Jin and Kevin(other roommate) need to perform their first task for kappa sigma. They need to do something overnight. When i asked my other friend Jeffrey why he didn't join sabi niya too much of male bondage daw. haha. Kaya ngayon heto ako alone and getting creeped out dahil nandito yung isa naming roommate(hindi namin choice) na weird.

Dahil sa kabobohan ko kailangan ko ireformat ang aking laptop. Shit talaga. Anyway i'm soooo happy that western digital finally made something smaller. Ang bigat bigat na nga ng laptop ano, buti meron na silang passport size na external hard drive. And its way cheaper too. For 200 dollars you get 250 gb. Hindi ko naman na kailangan yung 1tb it's too big. Ito magaan na mas mura pa. hahaha

After one year nakita ko na rin yung kabarkada ko. Dito na kasi siya magsstay for good. Wala namang nagbago sa kanya ganun na ganun pa rin. 3. Ang tagal mo magreply! Bilisan mo na aalis na ako dito, gusto na kitang makita. Pero feeling ko naman kahit na anong mangyari e magkikita at magkikita pa rin tayo. Tignan mo sinundan mo pa ko dito hahaha sana matuloy bukas!

San Francisco Sunday

Ang aga ko nagising to go to church, kailangan ko kasi magpunta sa San Francisco para i meet yung friend ko sa Pratt. He's just turned 21 kaya after San Francisco eh they're gonna drive to Vegas to party party party and gamble gamble gamble. Anyway we met sa may mall. Kasama niya yung friend niya na si Jen, Caesar, Phil and Jason na super funny tapos two additional girls na nice pero nakalimutan ko name. Nagjoin nalang kasi sila nung after na kumain. We ate at this thai restaurant. Wala lang usap usap blahblahblah. Jen and Caesar couple sila tapos all i could think about was Ming Javier, kamukhang kamukha ni Jen. Hay nako, so many things happened this week. Finally tapos na yung nilagay nila sa aking ipin, SAKIT! Pero ok lang.

Due to my stupidity pala kagabi, nagkaron ako ng malaking bukol sa noo. hahahaha. Nakakatawa talaga, i was lying down the bed tapos nasa legs ko laptop. Eh nakahiga talaga ako so bale parang naka no. 7 yung position nung laptop. Naisipan kong tanggalin yung charger kasi sagabal. Nakalimutan ko na yun pala yung nagsusupport ng lahat ng weight. BANG! diretso sa ulo ko yung tip nung screen. What's worse is lahat nung bigat niya parang hinampas sa ulo ko. Mabigat pa naman super. Ayan instant bukol. Meron akong parang gash na red. Tapos nahilo talaga ako. haha yung mata ko sa left hindi gaano makakita after that.

Tawa pa nga ng tawa yung kapatid ko na katabi ko noon. Sabi niya

WAAHH cramming, specialty ko ata yan. I work best under pressure. One of my lame excuses. Anyway, 22 days to go before i go back to New York. Dame ko pa gagawin. Ayoko pa! hahaha

Kahit na free lang sa library humiram (they have 50 copies of deathly hallows) eh syempre iba parin yung meron ka

O diba out of boredom sinuot ko muna to. Kunyari grey's anatomy. Omg sana pasukan na, pero hindi rin nageenjoy pa akong matulog e. Actually andami kong dapat gawin pero i chose to do this hahahaha. Kakatapos ko lang linisin yung walk in closet. Grabe andaming kung ano ano ng kapatid ko. Mga bata talaga. haha Super gulo ng kwarto nun, eto yung malapit na ako matapos maglinis. They tallied all my transfer credits and credits this year. Junior na daw ako, although i still have to stay for 5 years dahil 2 design classes per year. Pero ok na rin that means less work load. whoopsiedoo!!

Archi work during the summer?!??

I got the usual letter from Pratt this afternoon. Nung first year ako nakatanggap na din ako nito kaya lang ngayon, we can chose our design professor na. I really hope i get Jeremy Carvahlo. He was the one who reviewed my portfolio last year at siya rin ang dahilan kung bakit ako nasa school na to ngayon. I think he's really cool. He gives you tons of work pero by the end naman you have some crazy shit. Worth it.

Anyway, I didnt know that the second year portfolio reviews were scheduled for Sept. 13. Dammit! That means less time to make a portfolio again. I really enjoyed making the media portfolio 3 months ago. Saya ko nung pinoint out nila yung akin as the fortune 500 portfolio. As in that made my day. Tapos we werent allowed to put names sa portfolio. Yahoo excited na ako. I have to get a new concept. Pero merong problema. May naerase ako by accident and hindi na nagwowork ang illustrator, photoshop and acad ko. DARN.

Tinatanggap ko yung mga binibigay mo dahil binibigay mo yun. Hindi ko naman hinihingi yung mga yun e. Kahit nga madalas yun yung rason kung bakit ako galit. Watched ratatouille a while ago. It was ok :D, not as good as i thought it would be but good enough.

From drab to fab!!!!

Ok, i cannot sleep. Heroes completely changed my body clock so nowadays, i sleep from 6am to 4pm. So now since i have to kill time i'll blog.

Anyway, I've realized that its been more than a year since I first arrived here sa U.S. of A. I've learned that quality dapat ang priority when it comes to things.

Cool Architectural Thingees:

1. Drafting Powder aka Pounce. Powdered gum erasers in a mesh fabric pad that gently removes dirt and smudges from drafting media without abrading the surface. My bestest best friend. Before using it felt kind of weird because the eraser pieces would stick to my arms. Before you draw in pencil, you sprinkle it on your paper, then you draw while the pounce is there. Its so GREAT. While you move your triangle over your drawing it wont make it dirty. It sweeps off the graphite so you're left with a clean and crisp drawing.

2. Drafting Dots- Actually, this is for convenience. But normal masking tape would do.

3. Drafting brush. Need i say more.

4. Lead Holder and Lead- Before i would use HB lead a lot. But I hate it now. Professors would tell us that only H pencils produce clean drawings. I did not listen at first haha. Its true. 4h is the best lead although you always need to sharpen it to produce clean lines. Reminder!!! Always roll your pencil while making a line. Oh and mechanical pencils leaves smudges since it tends to produce lead powder while you draw.

5. Adjustable Triangle- Super easier and convenient if you love doing those hatch lines.
6. Technical Pens- Omg. I remember when we had our first major plate, i used pens instead of pencils (pasaway) since i really wanted to use the set that i bought. It turned out to be good on my part, the professors were teasing me about being the "daring hulk". hahahaha. It's easier to use these because with pens, you dont need to control your hand anymore. You dont need to press harder or go over anything twice. While for pencils, if you want it to pop you have to sharpen and press.

7. Technical Pen eraser- This brand is the best(for the eraser). Its will not put a hole on your paper and it erases fast. Good for tracing paper. Not the (i dont know how you call it) "hopia" ones. Electric erasers are the best too.

8. Borco or Vyco- It's a vinyl cover. Good to draw on.

9. White out- Ok the Cooper Union thing. My professor told us that when they were students, they were taught to do this. In one of our projects, when we were asked to draw the interior of our model. We also had to draw a front elevation of the model. We drew the front elevation in hopia paper and then we ran white out at the back of the drawing. Then when we put the two drawings together and you could really see the drawings pop out.

Random Stuff:

1. A bath is different from a shower. How you may ask? Bath is when you use a bathtub large enough, having been filled with water, to permit a person to immerse his or her body therein for the purposes of washing and/or relaxation. A shower naman is a process of bathing by application of sprayed water upon the body.

Before kasi i used to say to my studiomates, " Ok, I think I'm going to go back to my dorm and take a bath." and they would say " What? I thought Pantas (my dorm) only had showers? You have a tub? "

2. Oh my God. I cannot get over this one, haha Pickles come from cucumbers. Now that i think about it I feel so stupid. But hey they taste so different.

3. San Disk flash drives are the best! Wohoo after we saw Michael Scofield's micro cruzer all of us bought one. It's really cool.

4. Bose earphones :D

5. Logitech cordless mouse! wohooooo

6. VLC Media Player and Bitlord.

Anyhooo that's about it. Okay totally unrelated stuff but while I was typing this I could not help but think of the word SHABBY CHIC. Instantly i thought of Gabo and the Jacket of one of my former blockmates. hahahahahaha ;D omg. Memories.
